other Outlaws...

Today , the last batch of outlaw fragrance vials are calling to me , rich , original compostitions all of them . These nine natural perfumers believe in using a full palette of naturals , and that the comsumer is wise enough to choose for themselves , to read warning labels and avoid materials that cause sensiviity to skin !
In order to support them , and protect the right for us to wear naturally complex creations , Anya , Dawn and I have put together Limited Edition Sample Sets of all nine outlaw perfumes and are offering them exclusively here in limited quanities . E-mail me if you are interested in pre-ordering .
Available soon : Limited Edition Outlaw Sample Sets !!

What a pleasure to explore these lustrous complex creations . Bellyflowers Rose of Cimmaron was , to my nose , dominated from start to finish by the agressively green pandanus . The fruity , narcotic lotus is there , making for lush development . I would love a version of this with less emphasis on the pandanus note , in order for the other notes to shine .

Providence Perfume Co. Gypsy is all dark and spicy CARDAMON !! I mean cardamon from top to bottom . I was totally gobsmacked by this . I love it in it's own way
and the more I sniff it , the more I think I need a full bottle . This is sooo gorgeous , a beautiful reworking of the traditional chypre , a little dark , alot sexy , and just dangerous enough....! Long lasting , compelling and unusual .

The next sample I recieved in the mail is was from independent German perfumer Alfredo Dupetit , of Dupetit Natural Perfumes . We met Alfredo here on these pages a few weeks ago , when I did a short interview with him . I have reviewed many of his scents .

Cannabis is one of Alfredo 's first fragrance releases . He also has been producing skin care products from cannabis oils since 1989 . In the same way natural essential oils are being regulated , so indeed is cannabis . As a sustainable crop , not only is cannabis ( seeds ) high in nutrition , it yields fiber ( stalks ) for natural fabrics ( most flour sacks , potato sacks , flags and sails for boats all historically were made from strong resiliant hemp fiber from the cannabis plant .) and cellulose for paper industry , to replace that from trees As a narural , botanical perfumer , Alfredo supports this issue in the same way he supports the use of these outlaw aroma-materials .

Cannabis , the fragrance , is bracing and green and pungent , with notes of basil , begamot leaf , bay oil , birch tar , citronella , geranium , ginger , grapefruit , jasmine sambac absolute , lemon peel oil , lemon verbena absolute , lime peel , mace , nutmeg , orange blossom absolute , orange leaf oil , orange peel oil , peppermint , rose absolute , rose oil , rue , tagetes , thyme , tolu balsam .
What a hit of freshness , the scent of grapefruit and lemon vie for dominance , while the herbs and just the barest hint of birch tar give it a slightly dirty edge . This is a fun , interesting twist on a traditional cologne !

Tomorrow I will finish the series with Joanne Basset's Amazing creation .

Don't forget about the drawing Tuesday , and watch for the Outlaw Perfume Sample Sets available exclusively here at WAFT , pre-order now !

You had me at "agressively green"..now that's my kind of green!

Also, a chypre reworking? Always welcomed by me.

I will email you about a pre-order. I already ordered a sample of Joanne Bassett's "Amazing", but I think I might need more!

Regarding Cannabis?

Let us not forget Mr. Dow, and Mr. Dupont, of said chemical companies, and also mention that Mr. Hearst owned thousands of acres of logging interests. YOu know what it takes to make wood into paper? Lots of chemicals...To convert cannabis into paper, know what it takes? WATER. That's it. So there was a great deal of money at stake here. Also Bayer was just figuring out that you could isolate compounds in plants and use them for medicine. We don't want granny using the Cannabis tincture for her back ache when she could use Asprin now do we? Again lot's of money involved here.

What we need is some sort of campaign to scare folks into getting this banned. Because we have a lot of money invested in paper. So Mr. Hearst kindly started the era of yellow journalism, telling people about this "evil" devil weed marihuana...used by Blacks and Mexicans...whip up the hysteria and pay enough congress people off and push this legislation through in the middle of the night, (literally they passed this at Midnight) and our profit margins are safe...for another 80 years.

So IFRA...follow the money, to find out WHY all of a sudden these things are bad for us.
